Liverpool FC is the most successful club in English football history with the Reds, boasting an impressive array of domestic and international titles including 18 league titles, 7 FA Cup victories and 5 European Cups.
Liverpool won the FA cup in 2006, and with another European Cup victory to add to their trophy room in 2005, Manager Rafael Benitez's trophy haul is growing; proving that once again Liverpool are a formidable team to contend with at home and in Europe.
Benitez has brought a strong Spanish influence to the club; with Liverpool having a string presence in teh Spanish Squad, although both Arbeloa and Alonso have left teh club over the summer.
Liverpool FC was bought out in February 2007 by the American businessmen, Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jnr. for an estimated £470 million.
Liverpool's potential new stadium 300 yards from Anfield at Stanley Park had long been in the pipeline and in July 2007, with funding from their new owners secured, the club announced revised plans for the arena to accommodate 60 000 seats with the possibility of increasing to 78 000.
Liverpool finished second last season only behind Manchester United; improving on thier third place finishes the previous two years. They are stringly fancied to go one further this year and end their 20 year wait for the league, assisted by new arrivals Johnson from Portsmouth and Aquilani from Roma.

Academy:
Liverpool FC was the first club to set up a Youth Academy. Nurturing the likes of Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard and Steve McManaman, it became a model for other European clubs’ soccer schools.
Whilst Owen and Fowler have moved on from the club, Liverpool have demonstrated their commitment to youth soccer by bringing new talent through the youth team ranks and into their first squad: Neil Mellor, Zak Whitbread, Jay Spearing and Jamie Carragher count among some of the most exciting young players of their generation.
In 1998 Liverpool invested in a new multi million pound complex that is under the responsibility of former Liverpool legend, Hughie McAuley. The range and quality of facilities are truly world class and feature 10 grass pitches, including 4 full-size and one main match pitch. The club has recently added an indoor play facility too. Youth teams also get access to a gym, medical centre and hydrotherapy pool.
Female Soccer: Liverpool Ladies was formed in 1995 with the full financial support of Liverpool FC. The team also reached the FA Cup Final that year, losing out to Arsenal and finishing runners-up in the league.
Under the leadership of Keith Cliffe, LFC Ladies won the title last season. Cliffe has handed over to David Bradley.
Transport Access : John Lennon airport is very close to the city centre - only a 20 minute journey and Anfield Stadium is approximately 30 minutes' drive. Liverpool is also only one hour away from Manchester's international airport.
