At the World Cup 2005, Annapolis, USA, an astonishing seven Maryland players were named in the 12-member All-World team, 11 players in the World Cup final had graduated from Maryland University and of the 20 games played at the World Cup in which a Maryland Terrapin was on the roster, a ‘Terp' player was recognized as "Player of the Match" nine times. Former ‘Terp' Sarah Forbes was named the tournament's "Most Valuable Player" for her efforts for the Australian Team and Jen Adams was the leading scorer among all players at the World Cup with a new World Cup record.

This impressive pedigree shows the quality of players that are both attracted to play for Maryland and produced by the university.

Head Coach at Maryland University , Cindy Timchal, is undeniably the top college coach in women's lacrosse today. She became the first coach in women's lacrosse history to win 300 games, has coached over 67 All-Americans and has a very impressive winning record of 313-71 over 14 years. Cindy has also been f ive-time ACC Coach of the Year and two-time National Coach of the Year.

Assistant coach - Former University of Virginia standout Caitlin Banks was a volunteer assistant at Georgetown before joining Maryland . As a player at Virginia , Banks was a member of the Cavaliers' national championship team in 2004, where she earned All-America honors and was named to the NCAA and ACC All-Tournament teams, in addition to being an All-ACC selection.
