Borussia Dortmund – The Club
Borussia Dortmund (BVB) are based in the west of Germany, close to the borders of The Netherlands and Belgium.
The club has a rich history both domestically and internationally, having won 8 German Bundesliga titles.
They were the first German team to win a European title in 1966 when they lifted the Cup Winners Cup and have since added an intercontinental cup and the Champions League in 1997; a competition they came close to winning back in 2012 when they lost the final at Wembley to rivals Bayern Munich.
They play their home matches at Westfalenstadion, now branded as Signal Iduna Park. It is Germany’s biggest football stadium holding 80,720.
They have the highest average attendance in European football at over 80,000; in fact there is no bigger seasonal event in sports or entertainment with a bigger audience.
